Create this three-dimensional framed pumpkin project to add a bit of whimsy to your seasonal décor this Halloween using spray paint.

  • Krylon® Fusion for Plastic® Spray Paint
    • Pumpkin Orange #2337
    • Plum #2343
    • Ivy Leaf #2344
    • Black #2321
  • (2) 8” x 10” Frames
  • 6” or 8” Foam Craft Pumpkin
  • Ribbon: ½” to ¼” wide
  • (2) 12” x 12” Sheets of Decorative Paper: Halloween themed
  • Sandpaper: Fine Grit
  • Permanent Marker: Black
  • Colorbox® Chalk Ink: Olive Pastel
  • (2) Hang Tags
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Hot Glue Sticks
  • Serrated-Edge Knife
  • Painter’s Tape
  • Craft Scissors
  • Craft Glue
  1. Remove glass from frames.
  2. Lightly sand surfaces of frames.
  3. Mask areas of frame to be painted orange, as indicated in photo using painter’s tape.
  4. Coat frames with Krylon Black Fusion for Plastic spray paint, according to  instructions on label.
  5. Allow paint to dry completely.
  6. Mask areas of frames to be painted black.
  7. Coat inside rim of frame with Krylon Pumpkin Orange Fusion for Plastic spray paint.
  8. Cut decorative paper to fit frames.
  9. Adhere decorative paper to frame inserts.
  10. Place inserts into frames.
  11. Using a serrated-edge knife, carefully cut the craft pumpkin in half vertically from the stem down.
  12. Coat pumpkin halves with Krylon Pumpkin Orange Fusion for Plastic spray paint.
  13. Allow paint to dry completely.
  14. Cut strips or dots from painter’s tape.
  15. Apply shaped tape to areas of pumpkin you wish to remain orange.
  16. Coat pumpkins with Krylon Pumpkin Fusion for Plastic spray paint in either Plum or Ivy Leaf.
  17. Allow spray paint to dry completely.
  18. Do not remove dot/stripe masks.
  19. Cut additional stripes and dots from painter’s tape.
  20. Apply additional shapes to areas you wish to remain the second paint color.
  21. Coat pumpkins with Krylon Pumpkin Orange Fusion for Plastic in either Plum or Ivy Leaf (whichever spray paint color you didn’t previously use).
  22. Allow paint to dry completely.
  23. Remove all dot/stripe masks.
  24. Outline strips and dots, using a permanent marker.
  25. Add other details as desired.
  26. Cut hang tags into narrow 3” shape with a “forked tongue” at end.
  27. Ink edges of tag with Chalk Ink.
  28. Write the words “Eek!” and “Boo!” on tags with permanent marker.
  29. Tie ribbon through hole in hang tag.
  30. Adhere tags to stem of pumpkins.
  31. Hot glue pumpkin halves to center of decorative paper inside of the frames.
